Who is Jon Jandai?
He is a self-reliance practitioner, a farmer, a seed saver and alternative builder. He is a co-founder of PunPun seed saving centre in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
My main work is to do seed saving. The way I live is self-reliant. To be self-reliant I do at least 4 things such as building my own house, growing my own food, making my own daily needs and self- healing and educating our own kids.
Punpun is a small organic farm and learning centre in north of Thailand, where we practice sustainable living through seed saving, natural building and appropriate technology. At Pun Pun we live in community. This means we share our lives, our meals, and our work together on the farm with each other. At present there are around 20 community members living and working at Pun Pun which enables us to try many new projects and support each other to continue learning, whether that’s through farming ideas, building, raising children, or community projects. We feel we can do so much more in community and think it’s helped us expand our ideas.

He began doing workshops on earthen building in 2002, initially traveling the country and voluntarily teaching farmers’/villager groups ,NGOs, etc creating what is now a widespread earthen building movement in Thailand. He co-founded Pun Pun in July 2003 and is most interested in preserving our heritage in seeds.
Jon talks about
How we can rely on ourselves to self-heal as much as we can.
Our health is the first priority. Don’t feel bad about investing in our health. Eat real food and know our food very well. Our lives are very fun. Enjoy it as much as we can.
