Breaking the chains of abuse

Who is Liz Jenkins?

CEO and Founder

Past experience of Domestic Abuse personally; qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and supervisor; author; chair of West Suffolk Domestic Abuse Forum; experience working in mental health, substance misuse and DA.

Liz leads Alumah CIO, a trauma‑informed charity in West Suffolk, where she spends her days creating spaces where people feel safe, understood, and genuinely cared for. She’s passionate about helping children, young people, and adults rebuild their sense of worth and about supporting the professionals who walk alongside them. Her work blends lived experience, leadership, and a deep belief that healing happens in relationship.

In this conversation, Liz opens up about what trauma‑informed practice really looks like in everyday life not as a policy or a poster, but as a way of being with people. She shares stories, insights, and gentle truths about emotional safety, connection, and why small relational shifts can change everything.
