Herbalism

Studied and practiced as a horticulturist in Cape Town because in those days, there was no such thing as a herbalist in our communities, so I thought that I would grow herbs, if I couldn’t heal with them.  This was useful because now I grow many of my medical herbs which I turn into tinctures, oils, teas and glycerites.  In Cape Town, I was involved in landscape design mostly.

Qualified as a medical herbalist in 1999, and immediately went on to do an MSc in Complementary Therapy Studies, with a focus on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. 

I studied other modalities such as Advanced Clinical Aromatic Medicine, Animal Healing, Hypnotherapy. 

I follow the Celtic Druid path, but I since I come from Africa, and return often, I love to speak with the local Africans about their spiritual practices, which are extremely similar to our Celtic spiritual practices. 

Full Circle – Recently involved in designing a Welsh medical-magical garden at Jesus College, Oxford.

Spirit of the Hedgerow – I really felt that the plants wanted their stories to be told.  I wanted people to see plants as powerful benevolent beings rather than useful green things to eat and use. 

Secrets from a Herbalists Garden -packed full of recipes. This was a book to empower the people again, so that they could help themselves if they became ill.

Natures Remedies for Stress & Fatigue – I wrote this for the millions of people who suffer with an illness for which there seems no diagnostic test, nor treatment.  But there is help – in the form of plants and how we live our lives.
